Get to know Timur

Timur Nizametdinov is a Team Lead in Software Development and has been working at CRX Markets since 2018.

He is part of our Software Development team and is responsible for the IT fundament of our marketplace.

We interviewed him for you to find out what it’s like to work at CRX Markets.

Q: Hey Timur, you joined CRX Markets in 2018 already and you are now the Team Lead in our platform software development division. How has CRX Markets changed over the past few years?
A: Not too much has changed culture wise at least within our Software Development team. The atmosphere within the team and across departments has also remained the same. When I started, we had to focus on tactical goals of getting a product ready and developing from scratch, where today we can put our focus on strategic goals, also in the field of software development.

Q: How did you grow into your role as a team lead?
A: I originally joined as a Senior Software Developer but became Team Lead for the platform team nearly right away. At CRX Markets, the platform team in Software Development is responsible for ensuring that all our products are stable to use. So, we build the IT fundament for our marketplace! Part of my team also works for CRX Markets remotely.

Q: Is it challenging to work together in a hybrid team?
A: All of us must of course adapt the way we work together when some people are joining remotely and there are some of us in the office. It also takes a lot of trust from both sides to make it work well. We have our daily appointments, where we talk about our current projects and the code we are working on. We are all professionals in my team, and we are all very productive in the things we are doing, while still maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. That’s what sets us apart.

Q: What would you say are your main responsibilities within the team?
A: As a team lead, I of course have to be very good at communicating effectively and manage the team in a way to make sure that we focus on the right projects at the right time. When coding we create something new, which means that we have to work creatively and do everything to make that project work. It is OUR code after all. But when it comes down to it, we all like helping each other as well to achieve our common goals. So, I am also coding myself and help wherever my help is needed.

Q: So, when you’re looking for new people joining the platform team, what are you looking for most?
A: The most important skill a software developer should have is being open and willing to learn new things. Being complacent with your skills is the death nail of anyone’s career in IT in my opinion, so experience is not the deciding factor when I am trying to hire new people. Other than that, I am looking for people that are smart and work on problems in an intelligent and rational way. Of course, we also need people that know their way around Java as well. 😉

Q: What made you chose CRX Markets when you decided to join as IT?
A: I am looking for smart people I can work with, learn new things, and bring a project forward. From the beginning, I was convinced that the CRX Markets board had the right vision and wanted to establish a product in the market that would change working capital finance through innovation and stability. It’s easy to launch a product with code that simply does its job. However, it is much more important that the product is stable and robust. And here at CRX Markets within Software Development, we don’t just want our code to meet minimum goals. Quality takes time and we take that time to write code that works without exception. I like that!

Q: Why would you say, you enjoy working at CRX Markets?
A: I like working at CRX Markets because I can help develop an innovative product in a pleasant atmosphere and I can keep learning new things even after years of doing my job.
